Seed Story

Delicious large red storage onion with a flattened top. Italian Heirloom.

Rossa di Milano translates to Red of Milan. The “Red” is because this is a big red storage onion. The “Milan” because this variety was originally grown in the Lombardy region of Northern Italy and sold in the markets of Milan.

We were introduced to this variety through Hélèbe Saby who loves Rossa di Milano onions. Hélène used to work for Tourne-Sol but now has her own seed farm. So she grew us some seed and we’re happy to offer it to you!
