Troubadour is one of the oldest selections from the Tourne-Sol poppy breeding population that I’ve been working with since 2008. It is a pretty stable variety with not much diversity.

Whereas I was not a huge fan of our Clair de Lune poppies, I fell in love with Troubadour immediately. I might just be a fan of extravagant pom pom flowers.

Emily named this poppy Troubadour. These are big puffy red flowers made up of a thousand wrapped up frilly petals. (Well, there might be a few less than an actual thousand petals.) All the puffiness can make it hard to see that the base of each petal has a purple half circle - but it”s there!
