La Vie En Rose Corn Poppy - organic seeds

These corn poppies come in dusky shades of an antique rose colour. There is a range of sizes and shapes in this population. Tourne-Sol original variety.

We almost missed this dusky corn poppy in our fields of red corn poppies. I thought they were simply faded dried up red flowers. Rachel said “No, they were always that colour.” So, I harvested the seeds from those plants and grew them out the following year to see what would happen. And Rachel was right! These seeds produced mostly blooms in a dusky antique rose pallet. They were stunning.

It’s taken a couple of years to stabilize these corn poppies so they are all the same dusky pallet but there is still a fair amount of diversity in flower type and size. There are some very small corn poppies in addition to the standard size. Some plants produce a defined cup shaped flower while others are just flat and floppy.
